What are Parent-Child Relationships?

Parent-child relationships connect parent accounts to player (child) profiles within teams. When connected:

  • Parents can RSVP for their children's events

  • Parents can update their child's profile information

  • Parents automatically receive the "Parent" role in the team

  • The relationship is clearly displayed in team member lists

How to Connect as a Parent

During Team Join Process

When joining a team, you can establish parent-child connections:

  1. Select "Parent" as your role when joining the team

  2. You'll be prompted to connect with your child

  3. Search for your child's existing profile or create a new one

  4. Complete the join process

After Joining a Team

If you're already a team member with staff or team support privileges:

  1. Go to the Team Member overview

  2. Find your child's profile

  3. Select "Claim as Parent" from the profile options

  4. Confirm the connection

What Parents Can Do

RSVP for Children

  • Respond to event invitations on behalf of your child

  • Set transportation needs for matches

  • Provide reasons for absence when your child can't attend

Manage Child Profiles

  • Update your child's profile information

  • Edit contact details and preferences

  • Manage your child's team settings

View Team Information

  • See all team events and schedules

  • Access team communications and updates

  • Monitor your child's participation and stats

Important Rules and Limitations

Role Restrictions

  • You cannot have both Parent and Player roles simultaneously

  • Once connected to a child, you cannot remove your Parent role

  • Parent roles are automatically assigned when you connect to a child

Connection Limits

  • A child profile can have multiple parents

  • Parents can be connected to multiple children

  • Connections are team-specific

Team Departure

  • If you or your child leaves the team, the parent-child connection is automatically removed

  • You'll need to re-establish connections if either party rejoins

Notifications and Approvals

When You Claim a Child

The system will automatically notify:

  • The child (if they have claimed their profile)

  • Team administrators

  • Other connected parents (if applicable)

When Others Claim Your Child

You'll receive notifications when:

  • Team admins connect you as a parent

  • Your child claims their own profile

  • Other parents are added to your child's profile

Troubleshooting

"Can't Connect to Child After Joining"

If you joined the team without selecting the Parent role, you may need administrator help to establish the connection. Contact your team admin or coach.

"Child Profile Shows as Unclaimed"

  • This appears when a profile exists but hasn't been claimed by the actual player

  • The tag will disappear once you're connected as a parent or the child claims their profile

  • This is normal for younger players who don't manage their own accounts

Missing RSVP Options

Ensure you're properly connected as a parent and that:

  • Your parent role is active in the team

  • The event includes your child as an invitee

  • Your team settings allow parent RSVPs

Managing Multiple Children

If you have multiple children in the same team:

  • Connect to each child's profile separately

  • RSVP and profile management options will be available for each child
